Personality:
Sugar, spice, and everything nice: these were the ingredients chosen to create a person as sweet and easy going as Phichit Chulanont. Somewhere along the line however, someone decided to add figure skating and social media to the mix. The end result? A happy go lucky world class figure skater who shares his life with the world on Instagram and whose dream it is to make not only Thailand fall in love with ice skating, but to make his whole country proud.
It's safe to say that figure skating has been Phichit's whole life. With his talent for the sport having been discovered when he was little, skating with his family on a rink in Bangkok, Phichit's been training year after year since then to hone his gift. He's even gone so far as living in Detroit for a period of time to train under the Italian coach Celestino Cialdini. It was while in Detroit that Phichit befriended Yuuri Katsuki, his rinkmate and roommate. The Thai skater is the only person Yuuri considers an international friend; judging from the photos the two took together it's clear that Phichit's happy go lucky personality made it easy for Yuuri to open up to him and for the two to grow close. The two even know a bit of one another's languages, with Yuuri knowing some Thai and Phichit knowing some Japanese in return. Yuuri is a person that Phichit looks up to and cares a lot about, so much so that it wasn't just Phichit's dream to make it to the Grand Prix Final, but to make it there with Yuuri and compete against him.
Making it to the Grand Prix Final was only just a step toward his true dream. Time and time again Phichit fantasizes about making his country fall in love with ice skating and wants everyone to experience the joy and love he does when he's on the ice. He doesn't want to win gold at the Grand Prix Final strictly for himself but instead for his country, as he's the first Thai skater to advance so far professionally. He even goes so far as to dream about putting on an ice skating show with his fellow competitors.
Like most people Phichit's age he's social media savvy and attached to his phone. His iPhone might as well be a part of him, what with how addicted to it he is. Selfies and videos he takes are instantly uploaded to Instagram and shared with the world, so much so that much of his life he seems to document online. Whether it's food, skating routines, people he meets or cute animals, Phichit will post it without fail - he's a bit of an exhibitionist in that sense.
Figure skating and Instagram aside, Phichit's other love in life are hamsters. He absolutely adores the little creatures, having a few as pets himself, along with a slew of hamster themed paraphernalia. His phone case has a hamster on it, he has multiple stuffed hamster plushies which he owned already or were given to him by fans, and even his Instagram name phichit-chu pays homage to the rodent. If something has a hamster on it, Phichit's inclined to own it.
Chatty and always ready to have a good time, Phichit's rather easy to get along with, being on quite friendly terms with many of his fellow skaters who he regularly keeps in contact with via Line or social media. He's not afraid to try new things, see new places or talk to new people - after all, strangers are just friends you haven't met yet. It's this openness of his that makes him so magnetic, both on and off the ice, but it can also be a bit of a double edged sword.
As sweet as Phichit may be he isn't without flaws. His Instagram addiction is a rampant one and he could be considered somewhat vain for the amount of selfies and videos he takes to show off to the world. He's also a bit naive and clingy at times as well. Perhaps above all he's not exactly considerate when it comes to other people's privacy and seems to be lacking a bit in the shame department. He has no qualms about posting the lewd picture he took of Victor and Yuuri on his Instagram account, while the other two skaters he was with held back in doing so. Phichit may be a good friend, but he's not the type of friend you want to share secrets with or be there when you're embarrassing yourself. He'll be there for you, sure, but that doesn't mean there won't be picture evidence shared with the world soon after. His motto might as well be post for likes, do it for the Vine, and deal with consequences later.
Abilities and Nerfs:
Phichit has no otherworldly abilities. He's just a normal, squishy human. He is however very skilled at figure skating, which means he's highly athletic and very flexible. He could also, more than likely, wreck you on the dance floor. Phichit is also known for his selfie skills and has a huge social media following thanks to it. Not even his fellow skaters can deny his mastery of filters and angles.
